Alex "Lex" Leonard
Professional Profile
I'm a seasoned professional Scouter, fully trained in the managerial arts and officially commissioned by The Boy Scouts of America's Professional Development Division in Dallas, Texas. As a representative of a major national non-profit organization, I have the responsibility of promoting Boy Scout youth programs to the community and to identify, recruit, train and guide children and families that want to get involved with The BSA. My duties include selling the Scouting agenda to the community, assembling volunteer committees for different aspects of the our program, marketing through local media, membership supervising, resource management, conflict resolution, activity budgets, program development, camp facilities management, volunteer counseling and fund-raising. As a steward of Scouting, I'm obliged not only to adhere to national Boy Scout protocol and policy, but to evangelize our oath which begins with, “On my honor...”
Prior to my work in Scouting and upon earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts, I spent years working extensively in the art world as an artist, curator, gallery director, cultural activist and entrepreneur. I'm well primed to serve a role in any dynamic organization that may benefit from the traditional managerial, sales and public relations skills I've gleaned through The Boy Scouts and the skills I've developed during my years as a cultural entrepreneur and artist. I base my work ethic on the ideals of Scouting which are trust, loyalty, helpfulness, friendliness, courtesy, kindness, obedience, cheeriness, thriftiness, bravery, cleanliness, and reverence.
